Aboriginal Funding Sources
Aboriginal Funding starts with the Innovation and Knowledge Fund provides $ 2,500,000 per territory. Investments under the Innovation and Knowledge Fund assist territorial residents to participate in and benefit from innovation, knowledge, and the knowledge-based economy. The priority continues to help Northerners seize opportunities in the new economy, and further science and technology. Eligible activities include research and consultation projects, as well as those designed to be innovative or build the capacity of individuals and organizations.
Under the Aboriginal Loan Guarantee Program, aboriginal communities will be eligible for loan guarantees for assistance of up to 85% of total eligible economic development costs. These communities may offer land as cash in kind as part of their investment.
A native reservation may be able to offer the value of the land, on which the project is operating, as cash-in-kind, as part of their contribution to the funding sources, when the new property rights law become effective.
Individual Aboriginal entrepreneurs may receive up to $99,999 in funding assistance For community-owned businesses, this assistance can vary but can be up to $250,000. A successful application requires a balanced financial package, involving debt financing from other sources and a minimum of 10% cash equity. An aboriginal community or entrepreneur may be able to obtain funding to assist with a wide range of activities, including a new product or process development. While there are ceilings for the average contributions offered, the actual investment from AANDC will be limited to what is required to ensure your project proceeds and is viable.
A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR ELECTRICITY
The new damless development of a submerged helical pathway is capable of extracting high energy from low head sites at very low cost because of a physics phenomenon, called repulsion energy. Water reduces resistance by curving more and more inwards thereby avoiding the friction along the inside lining of a straight pipeline. Think of the water that leaves your bathtub; give it a twirl and see what happens.
When we direct the water to flow at its natural mode, it hugs the inner wall. This kind of vortex motion tends to accelerate and contract the stream of water. The less collisions improves the flow, i.e. the better ordered and more dense the flow will be. The velocity of the flow in the HUG is four to five times faster than the river velocity or the waterfall.
Let us compare with a Run-of-River System, which cost $33 Million:
At Fitzsimmons Creek there is a 250-meter elevation change (what’s called head) and the pipe travels 3.5 kilometers downhill from where it’s diverted to the powerhouse. When the water in the pipe finally gets to the powerhouse the water is at an average of 2.46 m3 per sec.
The Penstock consists of: Low Pressure Conduit – up to 10 m of pressure head.
- 2 km of 1.4 m diameter HDPE at a 0.5% gradient: 1.6 m/sec Velocity: 2.84 MW
- 4 km of 1.2 m diameter at a 5 to 62% gradient at 350 psi: 2.18 m/sec Velocity: 5 MW
Kinetic Energy of Run-of-River = 0.5 x (Area) 1.13 m 2 x (Velocity 3) ( 2.18 m/sec)3 x 85% Peloton Efficiency: 5 MW
Total Capital Cost of Run-of-River: $33,162,000 & the Annual Gross Revenue is $2,800,000: ROI: 8.44%

Acceleration = a = g (acceleration of gravity)= 9.8 ms2
(Final Velocity)2 = 2as = 10.5 m/sec for s = 5.6 m increments (28 m/5 turbines = 5.6 m)
- Final Power of the 28 m drop in a HUG Funnel having a diameter of 1.5 m
Kinetic Energy = ½ x A x V 3 x efficiency (A = area swept; Velocity)
= ½ x 1.75 m2 x (10.5 m/s)3 x .35 = .348 MW/turbine x 5 HUGs = 1.74 MW for a flow of 5% of the Rapids (1.75 m2 of an average of 30 m2 flow).
The Funnel HUG is based on the shape of the tornado and is used in a waterfall, which doesn’t require any expensive control system to adjust the electrical current. This is unlike wind turbines, which have to contend with light wind and strong winds. Electricity is created at the source in the standard AC current required by the electrical grid.
A flow of water fills the level of the said Funnel HUGs, thereby guaranteeing a steady pressure on the helical turbine, which provides a steady rotation to the generator, in order to provide an unchanging AC current acceptable to the electrical grid.
The Funnel HUG replaces a ‘Run of River’ system by using a series of HUGs with a slope that follows the slope of the rapids
10,250 MWh can sustain 7,250 average households annually@ 12,000 kilowatt-hours (KWh)/household.
The Good News
Any funding must be invested in an aboriginal company or community which must have at least a 51% control.
INAC’s funding is directly related to the community economic benefits and the need for funding that has been demonstrated in the application. It will not exceed $3,000,000. In addition, INAC funding will not exceed two-thirds of the total project cost for economic infrastructure projects or 80% of the total cost for all other types of projects like a HUG Prototype. Recipients must provide at least 10% of eligible project expenditures. Presumable the remaining 10% can be cash-in-kind. The actual estimate of the Project is $2,225,000, which means a $223,000 (10%) equity portion.
More Good News
We have not even considered the extra funding that emanates from the Carbon Tax Fund. We are introducing an innovative sustainable energy source that will literally change the face of the aboriginal world in Canada.
The Canadian province of Quebec became the first in Canada to introduce a carbon tax. This new tax is expected to increase the revenues of the Quebec government by $500 million for 2015 alone. By 2020, it represents an expected $3.5 billion of extra taxes.
Quebec implemented its cap-and-trade system in 2013 for companies that emit 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent or more annually and fossil fuel distributors. It set a minimum auction price of $10.75 for the first year, which increases five per cent plus inflation each year: $13.17 in 2016. Emitters pay a penalty of $13.17 for every tonne over their limit. If our project creates 1.3 MW, what is the revenue expected from the carbon tax? At the tax rate of 0.01/kWh, 1.3 MW produces 10,250,000 kWh or $102,500 of tax.
In some parts of the United States, because of the relative inefficiency and high cost of both solar and wind power, the carbon tax credit is $0.023/kWh for ten years ($238,000/year).
Provincial carbon tax revenue is returned to sustainable energy producers in the form of an auction price and it is a pay out for at least ten years.
Imagine: a $223,000 investment
(10% of $2,225,000) earns $142,000 every year (63%/year) for the next 30 years. Add the revenue expected from the carbon tax: at the tax rate of 0.01/kWh, 1.3 MW produces 10,250,000 kWh or $102,500/year for the next 10 years. The Total Revenue: $244,500/year.
OUR NORTHYDRO STRATEGY
- Stage 1 To capture HUG energy from Run-of-River, Rapids & Waterfalls
- Stage 2 To build a small version of the HUG
- Stage 3 HUG Hydro electricity and irrigation in remote areas
- Stage 4 To Introduce the HUG Water Transfer System to crisis areas
- Stage 5 To introduce commercially viable HUG Tidal Energy
GREEN HYDRO POWER STATIONS The installation of most of very low head sites is technically feasible, but civil works give rise to high costs, resulting to economically enviable projects. To solve this problem, one must design a new machine using a completely different philosophy to equip such sites. The study of current turbines reveals that they were all invented on the basis of a poor understanding of hydrodynamics, and a consequent false premise.
MOBILE HUG: The HUG development is an exciting breakthrough in green energy. Small batches of HUG turbines can be installed with only a short period of 12 to 18 months between investment in the technology and the time when revenue starts to flow: it is modular, relatively easy to install and highly scalable.
PRE-FABRICATED HUG Standardized pre-fabricated modules should make it possible to order this new product as a “power plant kit” just like ordering from a catalog. The HUG power plant uses standardized parts, so no custom engineering is necessary. A one-size-fits-all pathway could be ordered.
Why is the HUG Frictionless? When we direct the water to flow at its natural mode, it hugs the inner wall. This kind of vortex motion tends to accelerate and contract the stream of water. The less collisions improves the flow, i.e. the better ordered and more dense the flow will be. The net result is that the velocity of the flow in the HUG is four to five times faster than the river velocity.
RING of FIRE The Ring of Fire Potential will come down to one factor, which will make or break any prospects: Hydro Electricity. Enter the HUG!
LABRADOR ENERGY POTENTIAL Any new technology leads to new growth opportunities: HUG is a Patented Energy System that will literally change the face of our world as we know it.
Aboriginal Needs and Concerns An Innovative HUG technology establishes a new needed Canadian infrastructure, which in turn implements and spins off other technologies
