WATER TRANSFER IN AMERICA
HUG Technology can alleviate Extreme Water Stress to parts of America. Imagine new fresh water transfer over 1000 km in a HUG ocean pipeline.
The traditional method of transferring water is a straight pipeline, which develops a turbulent flow, caused by the friction on the inside lining of this pipeline. The New Patented Pipeline, called HUG encourages a laminar flow with little or no friction. The HUG require little or no huge water pumps.
The HUG Pipeline lay rate is more efficient because the seamless pipeline is extruded directly from a pipe laying ship.
California Undersea Aqueduct Proposal
The high costs, which includes construction, maintenance & operation, was to be $150 billion.
The cost was much too high: $55 million/mile or $34 million/km. So construction was to start in 50 to 60 years from then (1965) or up to 10 years from now. The most recent estimate (1996) was 30% less but still too high: $16.5 million/mile.
The traditional method is a straight pipeline, which develops a turbulent flow, caused by the friction on the inside lining of this pipeline.
This old pipeline system requires several expensive large dimension water pumps and water reservoirs along its pathway with a maximum length of less than 70 km. Imagine new fresh water delivered 500 – 1200 km in a HUG ocean pipeline.
Most of the large massive water movements take water from the interior and send it to the coast. This water can be better used in the interior. Los Angeles could be taken off the Colorado River supply, which has diminished too much already.
California pipeline was envisioned in 1965, from Southeast Alaska to California: 2,340 and 2,700 miles. The destination was to be to Lake Shasta and between Crescent City and San Diego along the 20- to 200-m depth contour. A Canadian HUG would shorten that to 1,300 km.
- With a floating HUG fresh water pipeline to replace the pipeline on the ocean floor, the cost would be closer to $15 billion, instead of $110- $150 billion .
- Now let us eliminate most of the eleven large dimension pumps: the cost of $6.4 million/mile is even more reduced to less than $1million/mile or $2.34 billion. What a bargain!
Eastern Canada can export fresh water to New York, Georgia & Florida:
Mexico can alleviate its own High Water Stress & export water resources to California, Texas & Florida.
Argentina experiences Extreme Water Stress, which can be alleviated by Argentina’s own water resources.
North East Brazil and Sao Paulo experiences High Water Stress, which can be alleviated by Brazil’s own water resources.
Columbia experiences Extreme Water Stress, which can be alleviated by Columbia’s own water resources.
North Venezuela experiences High Water Stress, which can be alleviated by Venezuela’s own water resources.
Peru experiences Extreme Water Stress, which can be alleviated by Peru’s own water resources.
Cuba can alleviate its own High Water Stress, & export its own water resources to Florida.
Dominican Republic experiences Extreme Water Stress in some areas, which can be alleviated by its own water resources & export its own water resources to Haiti — supported by the World Bank.
A series of HUG Pipelines makes this happen. Why a HUG Pipeline?
It is simply more efficient than straight pipelines over a longer 1000 km distance without the necessity of water pumps and water reservoirs every 80 km, which is physically impossible in an ocean environment.
OUR NORTHYDRO STRATEGY
- Stage 1 To capture energy from Run-of-River, Rapids and Waterfalls with the HUG
- Stage 2 To introduce a smaller version of the HUG: for Fish and Hunting Camps
- Stage 3 HUG Hydro electricity and irrigation in remote areas: to support work in Africa.
- Stage 4 To Introduce the HUG Water Transfer System to crisis area
- Stage 5 To introduce commercially viable HUG Tidal Energy
HUG WATER TRANSFER A spiraling pipeline allows the transfer of water to travel two to three times faster, abet longer distances, because of the physics of the vortex: water prefers to travel in a whirlpool fashion rather than a turbulent straight line.
Aboriginal Needs and Concerns An Innovative HUG technology establishes a new needed Canadian infrastructure, which in turn implements and spins off other technologies.
GREEN HYDRO POWER STATIONS The installation of most of very low head sites is technically feasible, but civil works give rise to high costs, resulting to economically enviable projects. To solve this problem, one must design a new machine using a completely different philosophy to equip such sites. The study of current turbines reveals that they were all invented on the basis of a poor understanding of hydrodynamics, and a consequent false premise.
MOBILE HUG: The HUG development is an exciting breakthrough in green energy. Small batches of HUG turbines can be installed with only a short period of 12 to 18 months between investment in the technology and the time when revenue starts to flow: it is modular, relatively easy to install and highly scalable.
PRE-FABRICATED HUG Standardized pre-fabricated modules should make it possible to order this new product as a “power plant kit” just like ordering from a catalog. The HUG power plant uses standardized parts, so no custom engineering is necessary. A one-size-fits-all pathway could be ordered.
Why is the HUG Frictionless? When we direct the water to flow at its natural mode, it hugs the inner wall. This kind of vortex motion tends to accelerate and contract the stream of water. The less collisions improves the flow, i.e. the better ordered and more dense the flow will be. The net result is that the velocity of the flow in the HUG is four to five times faster than the river velocity.
RING of FIRE The Ring of Fire Potential will come down to one factor, which will make or break any prospects: Hydro Electricity. Enter the HUG!
LABRADOR ENERGY POTENTIAL Any new technology leads to new growth opportunities: HUG is a Patented Energy System that will literally change the face of our world as we know it.
